GEORGE STRAIT wrapped his The Cowboy Rides Away tour in Dallas Saturday (June 7) in record fashion setting a North American indoor concert attendance record with 104,793 fans, breaking a 1981 figure set by The Rolling Stones in Louisiana. George was joined by JASON ALDEAN, KENNY CHESNEY, ERIC CHURCH, VINCE GILL, FAITH HILL, ALAN JACKSON, MIRANDA LAMBERT, MARTINA MCBRIDE and LEE ANN WOMACK. Each artist joined George on his own hits as well as country classics that were sprinkled into the set list. George will continue to play select dates and record, though this marks the end of major touring for the legend.
GEORGE STRAIT covers the June 16 issue of Country Weekly magazine with the caption: George Strait, What’s Next? His time on the road may have come to an end, but we haven’t heard the last of the king of country.
TAYLOR SWIFT has donated $50,000 to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to be used to purchase a music cart that will allow patients to create their own music while being treated for cancer.
What divorce?! TIM McGRAW and FAITH HILL have shot back at those persistent split rumors without even really trying. The couple has been married for almost 18 years, but recent media reports have suggested that their marriage is on the brink of disaster. Tim and Faith haven’t said anything about splitting up. In fact, they have done things that suggest just the opposite. Most recently, Faith took to her Twitter account to post her very first selfie.
A kitchen accident forced CHRIS YOUNG to cancel an autograph session and his performance during the CMA Music Festival over the weekend. Chris cut his left hand while preparing a late dinner Thursday night (June 5) and damaged tendons in the hand, sending him into surgery on Friday. He is expected to make a full recovery, but will require rehabilitation before being able to play the guitar again.
Despite being rich, famous, talented, and loved by millions of country music fans, MIRANDA LAMBERT and BLAKE SHELTON are just like any other couple. Which means they have disagreements. Miranda says one thing they argue about is movies. Blake loves alien flicks and she doesn’t get it. Lucky for her, however, that Blake will watch Sweet Home Alabama every time it’s on.
… And while Blake likes animals, his affection doesn’t go as deep as Miranda’s. She says, “I have six dogs and I want them all in the house and I want them all to sleep with me — and he says no.”
MIRANDA LAMBERT’s Pink Pistol store found a new home in Nashville during the 2014 CMA Fest, and for the next two months. The singer’s lifestyle boutique, which sells clothing, jewelry, purses, and so much more, already has a home in Lindale, Texas, and Tishomingo, Oklahoma, but Miranda wanted fans at the CMA Fest to experience her store as well. So, she brought it to Nashville.
CARRIE UNDERWOOD has been writing new material and will spend time in the studio later this year. No further details have been revealed about a new project.
TERRI CLARK will release her next album, Some Songs, September 2. She co-wrote five tracks for the project which was funded through a Kickstarter-like funding effort.
RANDY TRAVIS made an appearance at DOLLY PARTON’s recent concert in Oklahoma. Though he did not perform or even go on stage, Dolly pointed him out in the crowd at the show.
TOBY KEITH will host The OK Kids Corral Challenge as part of The Adams Challenge professional golf tournament, June 19-22 in Oklahoma. More than 100 professional golfers will participate in the event to raise funds for the facility for cancer patients and their families.
