• 1969: GLEN CAMPBELL earned his first gold record for Wichita Lineman.

• 2003: SARA EVANS gave birth to her second daughter, Olivia Margaret.

• 2004: VINCE GILL announced he’d step aside as host of the Country Music Association Awards, after holding the position for twelve straight years.

• 2009: BROOKS & DUNN scored their 41st Top Ten hit with Cowgirls Don’t Cry.

• 2013: RANDY HOUSER scored his first number one with How Country Feels.

• 2016: CHRIS YOUNG was forced by a snow storm to postpone the night’s concert in Philadelphia. Opening act CASSADEE POPE ended up stranded for roughly 30 hours when the state shut down the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The same storm forced BRAD PAISLEY to postpone a concert in Corbin, Kentucky.

ALABAMA bassist Teddy Gentry is 69. He was born in Fort Payne, Alabama and is one of the founders of the group.

DOLLY PARTON’s brother RANDY PARTON has died at age 67 after a battle with cancer. Dolly shared the sad news on Facebook Thursday, writing, “The family and I are grieving his loss, but we know he is in a better place than we are at this time. We are a family of faith and we believe that he is safe with God, and that he is joined by members of the family that have gone on before and have welcomed him with joy and open arms.”

… “Randy was a great singer, writer, and entertainer. He sang, played guitar and bass in my band for many years. He headed his own show at Dollywood since it opened in 1986. He’s had several chart records of his own…”

ERIC CHURCH will release three albums this April. Album one is titled Heart, and will be released on April 16. The album features nine songs including Stick That In Your Country Song and Crazyland. The third album is called Soul, and it’ll be released on April 23. The second album is called & and it will be available on white vinyl for Church Choir (fan club) members only on April 20.

… The three albums together will be Heart & Soul, with a total of 25 songs.

SCOTTY MCCREERY, wife Gabi and their dog Moose have gotten to spend a lot of time together over the past few months. And during that time Scotty has picked up a new obsession: Bananagrams — the Scrabble-like game that comes in a yellow, banana-shaped pouch.

MORGAN WALLEN surprised fans last summer by introducing the newest member of his family: his baby boy Indigo Wilder, who was born to ex-girlfriend, KT Smith. And though Morgan was over the moon about his son’s arrival, he admits that at first, he found the prospect of being a co-parenting single dad a little daunting. He’d always envisioned raising kids with someone with whom he was in a committed relationship. Navigating a co-parenting relationship isn’t easy, and Morgan admits that he and KT had “some difficulties” early on in that role. But fortunately, the two parents have always been able to keep the health and happiness of their son as their first priority.

JAKE OWEN can be seen in theaters this weekend. He’s got his first movie role in the film Our Friend, which stars Casey Affleck and Dakota Johnson.

DARRYL WORLEY is heading back out on the road, beginning today (Friday), for his Country Rewind Tour. He’ll perform in Fernandina Beach, Florida, with appearances from supporting acts BRYAN WHITE and WADE HAYES.

• 1992: EMMYLOU HARRIS became a member of the Grand Ole Opry.

• 1992: SAWYER BROWN topped the charts with The Dirt Road.

• 2005: KENNY CHESNEY released the album Be As You Are: Songs From An Old Blue Chair.

• 2012: LUKE BRYAN scored his fourth number one with I Don’t Want This Night To End.

• 2014: KRIS KRISTOFFERSON received the Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award, along with The Beatles and The Isley Brothers.

• 2018: THE BELLAMY BROTHERS were inducted into the Florida Artists Hall of Fame in Tallahassee.

• 2019: DOUG SUPERNAW checked into a Houston hospital with a nagging cough. He was initially diagnosed with pneumonia, though further tests revealed he had stage IV lung and bladder cancer. He passed away November 13, 2020.

CLAUDE GRAY is 88. Clause is best know for his 1960 hit Family Bible.

Drummer Mike Burch of RIVER ROAD is 55.
